“VOICE” is an immersive, interactive installation. It is an infographic wind bell system made of hanging aluminum tubes and vaccine bottles. This cellular canopy creates a dialogue that highlights the environmental characteristic of the alley wind while introducing a data strip visualizing what we had underwent during the pandemic. As the breeze blows through the alley, numeric data are transformed into a contemplating spatial experience to the passengers. With computational algorithm simulations, the 12,000 vaccine bottles in different blue tones, create a 3d covid-19 graph of United States from March 1st 2020 to June 1st 2021. “VOICE” is a structure where data, code, pattern, geometry and human interaction merged to speak.

With a steel frame suspended by cables anchored on the brick walls, the 30 ft stimulating canopy is a reference to fifteen months data recorded. In the short direction, it contains 57 hanging bottles represents 57 states and territories according to CDC database.

To enhance visual and audial presentation of the wind bell system, each bottle is attached to an aluminum tube and filled with resin and night glowing pigment powders. The highest bottle is in 9 feet high while the lower ones in 3 feet elevation creating opportunities for human interaction. The entire canopy demonstrates a gradient showing various medical blue tone which is related to accumulative death. The glow begins after sundown. With the windy alley micro-climate, the installation renders an atmosphere with color, sound and light as a socially and environmentally response.
